Obviously every project has its own goals and
targets. A rootstock needs high resistance to pruning and a fragrant
cut rose needs a long vase life. Despite these differences we
use a set of basic values, in no particular order these are:
Vigour of growth
Resistance to diseases and pests
High Production
For many companies the so-called environmental
paragraph is of growing importance. Governement regulations, but
also pressure from the market forces growers and trading companies
to think about how and where the products are produced. From the
start on PRO has been using organic growing methods. Resistance
to diseases and pests has alway been one our prime selection parameters.
By avoiding the use of chemicals to cure e.g. mildew we ensure
that we breed resistance into our sorts. The results so far are
that a number of our products may be suitable for biological growing
conditions

Mildew resistance: these roses grew
next to each other in a testfield. The difference is obvious and
clearly genetic.
